Georgia completes flip of elite in-state edge, former USC commitment

One of the top prospects in the state of Georgia has committed to the G.

Warner Robins (Georgia) standout Isaiah Gibson is one of the most sought-after prospects in the 2025 recruiting class. The elite 6=3, 205-pound edge defender announced Monday that he has verbally pledged to play for Kirby Smart’s program.

ESPN, 247Sports and On3 rate Gibson one of the top-30 overall recruits in 2025. On Rivals, Gibson is rated No. 151 overall. His 247Sports Composite ratings is 4-stars and No. 36 overall in the country. Gibson is a 5-star prospect at No. 27 overall on the On3 Industry Ranking.

A recruitment with twists and turns

It’s the second commitment for Gibson this year. Just last week, he decided to reopen his recruitment.

On March 24, Gibson announced a verbal commitment to play for Lincoln Riley’s USC program. Georgia, and others, weren’t going to give up that easy.

Since the USC commitment, Gibson continued to be pursued by multiple teams.

Immediately after pledging to USC, Gibson was on UF’s campus to visit the Florida Gators. In April, Gibson used social media to document visits to Auburn and Tennessee.

Georgia got Gibson on campus in mid-May.

He checked out Ohio State immediately following the USC decommitment. Then, it was back to Athens for another Georgia visit.

With Gibson on board, Georgia now has 15 verbal commitments in its 2025 recruiting class. The class ranks No. 4 in the nation on the 247Sports Composite.
