Former Florida and South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp expects to have a significant impact with the Georgia Bulldogs defense this season, according to defensive coordinator Dan Lanning.

On Tuesday, Lanning spoke with the media and said that, while Muschamp is filling in for special teams coordinator Scott Cochran during Cochran’s absence, his presence will also be welcome in the defensive meeting rooms:

On Feb. 3, head coach Kirby Smart hired Muschamp as a defensive analyst for the Bulldogs. This position will help Muschamp rehabilitate as a coach as he looks to get back to the national spotlight.

Muschamp is also now reportedly providing some input with the special teams in the wake of coach Scott Cochran’s absence. Head coach Kirby Smart released a statement regarding Cochran:

“Coach Cochran is currently dealing with health issues and is taking time to prioritize his mental health and well-being. We fully support him as he takes this time to focus on his well-being.”
