Georgia drops hype trailer, names captains for Week 2 home opener against Samford
As Georgia prepares for its home-opener against Samford, Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart is letting the world know which players he’ll be sending out for the coin toss.
Against the Birmingham-based Bulldogs, Smart named wide receiver Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, defensive lineman Zion Logue, and interior offensive linemen Warren Ericson as captains. Kickoff is set for Saturday at 4 p.m. ET.
In the No. 2 Bulldogs’ season-opening 49-3 win over No. 11 Oregon, Rosemy-Jacksaint was quiet. He only recorded 1 catch for a gain of 12. As an offense, Georgia made plenty of noise behind the arm of sixth-year quarterback Stetson Bennett. Fresh off of helping the Bulldogs win their first national title in 41 years, Bennett finished Saturday 25-of-31 passing for 368 yards and 2 touchdowns while averaging 11.9 yards per throw.

Despite the departure of running backs Zamir White and James Cook, Georgia’s ground game excelled against the Ducks. Led by Ericson in the trenches, the Bulldogs finished with 132 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns. Junior running back Kendall Milton finished with a team-high 50 yards on 8 carries while averaging 6.3 yards per run.
Logue, a junior from Lebanon, Tenn., did not record a stat during the team’s outing in Atlanta. For the unit as a whole, the Dawgs dominated the trenches against former Auburn and current Oregon QB Bo Nix, holding him to 173 passing yards and 0 touchdowns. Georgia also forced a pair of interceptions during the first half, both of which led to scoring drives by the offense.
