Georgia first half: JT Daniels, Bulldogs playing well at home vs. South Carolina
The SEC opener for both, No. 2 Georgia and South Carolina renewed their rivalry Saturday night at Sanford Stadium in Athens. The last time the Gamecocks played at Sanford Stadium, they won in a 2019 monumental upset.
If the first half of Saturday’s game was any indication, the Bulldogs are in for some revenge. UGA leads the Gamecocks 26-6 at the break.
Georgia’s defense has yet to allow a touchdown this season, and the Bulldogs’ defense turned 2 South Carolina redzone trips into 2 field goals for the visitors. Late in the second quarter, Jordan Davis and Nolan Smith sacked Carolina quarterback Luke Doty in the Gamecocks endzone for a safety.
UGA quarterback J.T. Daniels threw 2 touchdown passes to Jermaine Burton and A.D. Mitchell and running back James Cook scored on a rushing touchdown.
Here are some social media reactions from the first 30 minutes of play in Athens:
Brock Bowers has 12 catches this season, already more than any Georgia tight end had all of last season. (John FitzPatrick led with 10, the tight ends combined for 24 in the 10-game season.)
