Georgia is dealing with injuries to key players as it moves on from the close call at Kentucky.

Kirby Smart said at a Tuesday media opportunity that standout lineman Tate Ratledge had TightRope surgery to address his ankle injury. Ratledge is also dealing with a sprained MCL.

“He’s getting it fixed already. We expect him to be back and make a fully healthy recovery,” Smart told reporters, per DawgNation.

Recovery times from TightRope vary from person to person. Last season, Brock Bowers only missed 2 games. Other players have gone through longer absences post-TightRope.

Carson Beck is dealing with an AC joint shoulder injury, but it is not expected to sideline the Georgia starting QB. Smart noted that Beck has been able to practice this week.

The Bulldogs are entering their first bye week of 2024. UGA is off to a 3-0 start, having already faced a pair of Power 4 squads in Clemson and Kentucky.

Georgia’s injury situation will continue to be followed closely, as the next game is one of the most anticipated contests on the schedule. Smart’s squad travels to Tuscaloosa in Week 5 to face No. 4 Alabama, a primetime showdown set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

After the Bama showdown, Georgia will continue SEC play against Auburn, Mississippi State and No. 1 Texas. The Dawgs get their second bye week of the season after the Texas game, ahead of the annual Jacksonville meeting with Florida.
