The hopes for any walk-on within a college football program is to one day garner the ultimate prize: a full scholarship.

Via a report from Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart gave three members of the team this wish.

Receiver Kenneth Towns, linebacker Tommy Long, and snapper Trent Frix have all been awarded scholarships by the coaching staff.

According to Smart, “Those guys have done a tremendous job for our program.” Of the trio, Towns has the most tangible experience on the field. He’s played in 31 games, catching 11 passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns.

Long was named outstanding defensive walk-on this past spring, and Frix will follow in his older brother’s footsteps (Ty) as transitioning from walk-on-snapper to scholarship snapper.
