Georgia football has officially named its captains ahead of Saturday’s road matchup between the Bulldogs and the Kentucky Wildcats.
The captains are defensive back Malaki Starks, running back Trevor Etienne, linebacker Smael Mondon and offensive lineman Tate Ratledge.
Starks has shown tremendous upside this season as a player with the potential to be an early first-round draft pick along with quarterback Carson Beck. He currently totals 3 combined tackles (2 solo) and 1 interception which may be the most impressive defensive takeaway we’ve seen in all of college football in the first two weeks of action.
Etienne is back in action after being forced to miss the first game of the season, making his 2024 debut with 5 carries for 78 yards against Tennessee Tech. Mondon has been a key cog within the defense, helping Georgia limit opponents to 6 total points through the first 2 games of the season.
Ratledge was an integral part of the offense in 2023, helping the unit finish second in the conference and fifth in the nation in total offense (496.5), offensive passing efficiency (168.21), and scoring offense (40.1).
These captains will lead Georgia into Lexington with the Bulldogs playing the role of heavy favorites against Kentucky.
