As most of us expected, Georgia running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel had a field day in a 48-6 win against Southern on Saturday.

But how would that win impact the polls in advance of the Bulldogs’ showdown with Alabama on Oct. 3?

After moving up two spots in the Amway Coaches Poll last week, the Bulldogs held firm to the N0. 6 spot this week. Voters did not have any space to move Georgia any further up the polls with all of the teams in front of them coming out victorious on Saturday, but they also did not penalize the Bulldogs for their quasi bye week against such a weak opponent.

The Associated Press was not quite as kind to the Bulldogs, however. Georgia fell from No. 7 in the AP Top 25 to No. 8, with UCLA jumping over them following a win at Arizona. The Bruins also jumped LSU, which is sits behind the Bulldogs at No. 8 in the polls.

The Bulldogs are 4-0 on the season heading into Saturday’s showdown with the Crimson Tide, which is at No. 13 in the Coaches Poll and No. 13 in the AP Poll this week. A win against Alabama should offer an opportunity to move up in both polls, potentially as far as the Top 3.
