Georgia fans will enjoy improvements to Sanford Stadium when the defending national champion and No. 1-ranked Bulldogs kick off the season on Saturday against UT Martin.
The 2-phase, $68.5 million stadium improvements include new locations for Gates 1 and 9 on the Gillis Bridge, which will close for vehicles and pedestrians at 7 p.m. on Fridays before game days, according to a press release from Georgia Athletics. Concourses for Gates 6 and 9 received expansions, doubling in size with additional concession options, including Grab & Go concessions, and larger bathrooms.
Gate 9 will also have two entries: the Gillis Bridge and the 100 Level concourse, which connects with the West Endzone plaza.
The stadium now features improved seating alignment plus more seating for disabled fans. A new sensory room in section 128 will also assist fans who need a sensory break from the sights and sounds on gameday.
More improvements for Sanford Stadium will arrive in 2024 when Phase II concludes. The next phase will include premium seating and suites.
Georgia faces the UT-Martin Skyhawks at 6 p.m. on Saturday as the Bulldogs begin defense of back-to-back national titles. The Bulldogs own an 18-game home winning streak.
