Germie Bernard apologized to Kalen DeBoer, team for ‘Jump Around’ comment
Germie Bernard knew he screwed up, and the Alabama wide receiver wanted his head coach to know it.
So the junior went to 1st-year Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer and admitted to his mistake after Saturday’s victory over Wisconsin. DeBoer said that Bernard came to his office and apologized for what he said about Wisconsin’s “Jump Around” song.
“We was ready to just shut that weak-ass jump song down,” Bernard said after the 4th-ranked Crimson Tide’s 42-10 win over Wisconsin.
Kalen DeBoer says Monday that Germie Bernard came to his office and apologized for this quote. "He wanted to say something to the team. … We want to be first class. He slipped up a bit there." https://t.co/gCwZ1PtqY9

That “Jump Around” song that Bernard blasted is tied to a cool Wisconsin football tradition. At the end of the 3rd quarter of every Badgers home game, the rap song is blasted at Camp Randall Stadium, and the home crowd celebrates by doing what the song says — to jump around. The fans at Camp Randall jump up and down in unison as the press box often shakes.
Alabama, feeling good at the end of the 3rd quarter with a 35-10 lead, even participated in the tradition with some of its players jumping up and down, too.
Bernard didn’t like the song too much, but on Monday he came to the head coach that he followed from Washington to Alabama last offseason and admitted that he was wrong.
“He wanted to say something to the team. … We want to be first class. He slipped up a bit there,” said DeBoer on Monday.
