Five-star cornerback Kristian Fulton (Metairie, La./Archbishop Rummel) wasn’t always a lock-down defensive back, but is now one of the best in the country for the 2016 cycle. That journey began when his father, Kristian Fulton Sr., made a personnel decision for his namesake.
“I was playing quarterback and I scored a crazy touchdown,” Fulton told USA Today. “Honestly, I thought I would be playing offense, but when I got to high school my brother was already playing running back and my dad didn’t want me playing with him. He told me I was playing cornerback so I made the transition in high school because he wanted one of us on the field at all times.”
As we head into the home stretch of the 2016 cycle, Fulton is one of the more coveted prospects around the Southeastern Conference. He’s certainly a high priority for in-state LSU, but Arkansas and Florida (the Gators in particular) have made things interesting.
He took an official visit to Gainesville this past weekend and will announce on National Signing Day.
If you look at his Twitter feed, he seemed to enjoy his Florida visit quite a bit.

Of course, Fulton has posted similar pictures and comments during most of his visits and recruiting activity down the stretch.
Humble and hard working
From all accounts, when you talk to people familiar with Fulton (coaches, experts, fellow prospects), it’s clear that the talented athlete is a humble and hard-working player.
When asked about his recruitment this week, he gave an excellent answer to Sam Spiegelman.
“It’s a lot of pressure, obviously,” he said. “With LSU being in-state and at the same time, I also have to think about what’s best for me and what’s best for my family. I just have to control it all and I can’t let it get out of hand. I have a lot of people helping me (stay humble) and to think about what each school has to offer.”
He even went on to say that one of the negative parts of making a decision would be that he has to let two schools down.
A special player
Fulton is a talented cornerback whose stock has risen to five-star status as the cycle has moved on. He has the height, speed, coverage ability, hips and demeanor to be a great prospect at his position moving forward and wherever he ends up (the prediction here is LSU still), he has the chance to be special.
