Greg McElroy, Chris Fallica discuss gambling aspects of Missouri’s Gasparilla Bowl
Bowl night has finally arrived for Missouri fans, and ESPN college football analysts Greg McElroy and Chris “The Bear” Fallica broke down the Tigers’ matchup with Wake Forest in the Gasparilla Bowl on Friday night in Tampa, Florida.
The Tigers had to outlast Arkansas on Black Friday just to get to 6-6 and become bowl-eligible, and their reward was a trip to sunny (or, at least a lot less cold) Florida to face the 7-5 Demon Deacons and quarterback Sam Hartman.
Both McElroy, the former Alabama star quarterback, and The Bear are treating this matchup with kid gloves, preferring the proverbial football stiff-arm rather than immersing themselves in it.
McElroy mentioned off the top that Wake Forest opened as a 3-point favorite over Missouri, with the spread being bet down to 1 with an over-under of 60 points.
“I like Wake Forest in the game, but this is one I probably stay away from,” said McElroy, who pointed out that he thinks Missouri’s defensive line can handle Wake Forest’s offensive line and somewhat disrupt the Demon Deacons’ offensive production.
Meanwhile, The Bear didn’t want much to do at all with the Gasparilla Bowl.
“I don’t really like the game at all, either,” said Fallica, who said he would slightly lean to Wake Forest if he had to choose a side.
Fallica also said he would’ve preferred seeing Missouri face regional rival Kansas in this bowl to create a buzz between the 2 fan bases.
