Greg McElroy recently outlined what the Texas Longhorns would need to do to be able to win a national title. On Always College Football, McElroy lamented the Longhorns’ inability to play a complete game.

“This team is just so remarkably frustrating,” explained McElroy. “Why can they not play for 60 minutes? I don’t understand it. They get a big lead, like always, only to come back to earth.”

The Longhorns had a scare in Week 11 against the TCU Horned Frogs. The Horned Frogs scored 20 points in the 4th quarter and ended up losing by just 3 points. This was a week after going to overtime against the Kansas State Wildcats and a few weeks removed from barely beating a bad Houston team.

“The 4th quarter is when championships are decided,” McElroy explained. “Texas still hasn’t figured it out.”

The Longhorns will end the regular season with games against Iowa State and Texas Tech. If the team gets through those unscathed, they will likely need to win the Big 12 Championship to earn a College Football Playoff bid for the first time.
