Greg McElroy is a college football analyst for ESPN who isn’t afraid to voice his opinion on anything related to college football. McElroy added his voice to the conversation surrounding former Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava on Monday.
When talking about it on his podcast ‘Always College Football’, McElroy had some questions for the people that are supposed to be helping Iamaleava out.
“I’ve spent time around Nico Iamaleava, and I really like the young man, I really do,” McElroy said on the show. “He was a pleasant person to cover. He was a pleasant person to talk to. I enjoyed getting to know him last year. I enjoyed interacting with him a few different times I was able to interact with him. But I don’t know who’s telling him what to do. I don’t know who’s really calling the shots for him with the decisions that have been made in the last few days.”
Here’s a clip of McElroy’s comments:
This has been the talk of college football over the past few days, as everyone has an opinion on it. So far, there hasn’t been a ton of interest in Iamaleava, as North Carolina was the latest school to reportedly bow out of the Iamaleava sweepstakes on Monday.
Iamaleava was reportedly interested in re-negotiating his contract with Tennessee prior to the 2 sides parting ways over the weekend. His father, Nic, has taken significant criticism online for how this saga has played out.
The transfer portal will officially open on Wednesday.
