Greg McElroy reflects on Playoff rankings, examines criteria

The final College Football Playoff rankings are officially out and it will be Georgia, Ohio State, TCU and Michigan in the final postseason mix.
College football analyst Greg McElroy recently weighed in on the way the rankings shook out and who made it in and who was left looking from the outside in.
“The committee, when looking at everything, got it right,” McElroy said. “Let’s start by identifying one key fact as it relates to the rankings every single year. People get very hung up on the vernacular that’s used as it relates to the playoff… we want the four best teams.”
Obviously, not everyone agrees on exactly what that is and how to determine it. But it’s safe to say most agree with the way that things were lined out this season in a year in which Alabama was not included.
