Greg Sankey addresses Brett Yormark, expects ‘respect’ for departing Big 12 members
Realignment is one of the hottest topics in the world of college football. Now, we have 2 commissioners getting a little chippy in regards to the handling of the situation. The Big 12’s Brett Yormark, and the SEC’s Greg Sankey.
At Texas Tech’s Red Raider Club kickoff luncheon, Yormark essentially admitted he’d like to see Texas Tech defeat Texas this season. Yormark also made interesting comments about “getting Texas and Oklahoma out a year early.”
It’s not often you an acting commissioner speak so candidly about teams, but Yormark went there.
Sankey responded to the comments, and said he expects the Big 12 to “treat the 4 departing members respect as they leave.”
SEC Greg Sankey on Brett Yormark’s comments: “I spoke to both campuses right after. I’m sure Brett expects the PAC-12 to treat the four departing members respect as they leave. I know Texas & Oklahoma and myself expect that kind of respect to be reflected toward Oklahoma & Texas”

Sankey revealed that he spoke with both Texas and Oklahoma after the comments were made, and compared the situation to the Pac-12 teams leaving for Yormark’s conference.
Yormark’s Big 12 will welcome Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Colorado, and Utah while bidding adieu to Oklahoma and Texas for 2024.
