Greg Sankey: In-helmet radios for quarterbacks a possibility

Though SEC commissioner Greg Sankey discussed most of the hot-button issues facing the conference during his press conference on Tuesday, he stepped to the mic again on Wednesday night at the SEC spring meetings in Destin, Florida.
The big news to come out of Wednesday’s Q&A session was a potential new rule that would allow the conference to install more technology in quarterbacks’ helmets:
Greg Sankey says SEC coaches discussed in-helmet radio communication for quarterbacks. NCAA could allow it in 2017.

The NFL has had in-helmet radios for years, with quarterbacks and a defensive captain benefitting from the technology, but the NCAA has yet to allow it in the college game.
Though discussion on in-helmet radio technology is certainly interesting, at least one reporter in attendance wanted to discuss yesterday’s controversial topic. However, Sankey declined comment:
Sankey on a satellite camp question as he answers it: "I'd love to discuss anything but satellite camps." No kidding.
