In the final three weeks of the season, Auburn must go on the road to play two of the top teams in the country — No. 1 Alabama and No. 6 Georgia.

In future seasons, Tigers coach Gus Malzahn would like to see the possibility of that happening changed.

“I think [athletic director] Allen [Greene] is working on that [in the spring meetings],” Malzahn said at his press conference on Tuesday. “What I want is one home, one away.”

Last year, Auburn hosted both Alabama and Georgia. But the schedule is much more difficult when it’s reversed, such as this season, and the Tigers must go on the road to face two of their toughest SEC rivals.

Auburn beat both Alabama and Georgia at home last season.

The Tigers have already lost three games — to LSU, Mississippi State and Tennessee — and they have the potential to lose more. In between the Alabama and Georgia matchups, Auburn plays non-conference Liberty.

On Saturday, Auburn travels to take on Georgia. The Tigers and Bulldogs are set to kick off at 7 p.m. ET.
