Auburn coach Gus Malzahn is a busy man. But not too busy to call an injured opponent in the hospital.

One day after their teams played a four-overtime marathon, Malzahn made a phone call to injured Arkansas running back Rawleigh Williams III on Sunday morning.

Williams suffered a neck injury in the third quarter of the Razorbacks’ 54-46 victory. He was carrying the ball when Auburn’s Kris Frost grabbed his facemask while trying to make a tackle. Then Auburn defensive back Johnathan Ford hit Williams hard, knocking the Arkansas running back down to the turf.

Play was stopped for more than 10 minutes while the Arkansas medical staff tended to Williams. He was taken to a local hospital and was seen talking to trainers as he was being loaded into an ambulance. He was moving all of his extremities.

Williams had surgery on Sunday morning, and is expected to make a full recovery. In a tweet, he said he was blessed and lucky to be OK.

Auburn also sent out this tweet during the game after Williams’ injury.
