Auburn running back Kerryon Johnson is reportedly continuing to improve from a couple of injuries he sustained during the Iron Bowl in November.
Johnson hurt not only his ribs, but also his right shoulder, in the Tigers’ 26-14 win over Alabama, according to a report from AL.com.
Luckily for Auburn fans, it appears Johnson is doing better ahead of the Tigers’ showdown with UCF in the Peach Bowl on Jan. 1. The star RB has returned to practice and “looked good,” according to his head coach.
“He’s practiced every day that we’ve been out there,” Gus Malzahn reportedly said on Wednesday. “You can see him moving around better and better every practice.”
Malzahn added that it’s possible Johnson could be 100 percent when the Tigers face the Knights.
“I hope so,” Malzahn said. “I think there’s a chance of that. We’ll see once we get to the bowl site, but I think there’s a chance of that.”
Johnson led the SEC with 1,320 rushing yards this season despite missing two games early in the season. He also rushed for 17 touchdowns.
He sent out the following tweet last Friday when a fan asked if he’d be playing on New Year’s Day.
