Local prospect Handje Tamba commits to Tennessee, reclassifies to join Vols early
Tennessee already had the No. 1 recruiting class in the Southeastern Conference for the 2021 recruiting cycle but Rick Barnes’ program just added another quality player to the group as 7-foot prospect Handje Tamba announced his commitment to the Vols on Tuesday.
That isn’t all, Tamba, who was scheduled to be a 2022 recruit, has reclassified to be a member of Tennessee’s 2021 signing class.
A product of Knoxville Catholic, Tamba had scholarship offers from Auburn and Georgetown. He is rated as the No. 8 overall player in Tennessee and the nation’s No. 41 center by 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Considering the Vols were lacking much frontcourt depth on their bench last season, Tamba is a nice addition to go along with four-star center Jonas Aidoo and five-star Brandon Huntley-Hatfield — both fellow 2021 signees for Tennessee.
