Hard Knocks will feature Bill Belichick and North Carolina ahead of the 2025 football season on HBO, according to a report.

That news was shared on Friday afternoon by Front Office Sports. The award-winning documentary team at Hard Knocks will set up shop in Chapel Hill during the offseason after being unable to come to an agreement with an NFL franchise, per the report.

Hard Knocks has been showcasing NFL franchises during training camp for more than 2 decades, primarily during training camp. Last season, they did a separate offseason edition of the documentary. But ahead of the 2025 season, it seems they were unable to find any team willing to make the jump. Last season’s series during the offseason focused on the New York Giants.

This will be a tremendous opportunity for Belichick to highlight his North Carolina program in his first offseason with the team. Ironically, Hard Knocks never profiled Belichick’s New England Patriots teams while he was their head coach from 2000-23.

This will be the first time Hard Knocks has featured a college football program. However, 2025 is shaping up to be a big year for college football documentaries beyond Chapel Hill. The SEC and Netflix previously announced a series that will air later this year covering 10 different programs. The series, expected to air this summer, will focus on the 2024 football season.
