Harold Perkins has decided that a part of his past will become a part of his future, too.
The LSU linebacker has decided to change his number from 40, which he wore as a freshman in Baton Rouge, to 4, which is the number he wore in high school.
So, there was the sophomore-to-be star sporting his new (and old) No. 4 jersey during spring practice on Thursday.

Perkins is sort of in the habit of changing his jersey number. He began his LSU career wearing No. 10 last fall before switching to No. 40, and now he’s switching things up again, this time going back to an old favorite from his high school days in Cypress, Texas.
The 5-star stud took the SEC by storm in 2022, becoming a stalwart for Brian Kelly’s defense. Perkins finished with an eye-popping 72 tackles, 39 of them solo, and piled up 7.5 sacks to help the Tigers stun most by capturing the SEC West and earning a shot at Georgia in the conference championship game.
Perkins also forced 3 fumbles, had an interception and had 4 pass breakups while wreaking havoc behind the line of scrimmage for the vaunted LSU defense.
In 2023, Perkins will be back for an encore performance for Kelly, and he’ll be doing it while wearing a piece of his proud past.
