Hawaii is among the teams that has taken its starting quarterback decision down to the wire, with college football season just now underway with Week 0 action officially beginning on Saturday.
The Rainbow Warriors face the Vanderbilt Commodores first up on schedule at 10:30 p.m. ET and will reportedly start sophomore passer Brayden Schager, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN. Schager started three games as a freshman in 2021, posting a 2-1 overall record in those games — for what quarterback wins are worth.

That included an upset victory over No. 18-ranked Fresno State. He will become head coach Timmy Chang’s first starting quarterback of his tenure.
Last season, Schager completed 60.7% of his passes for 615 yards with 2 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He will go up against new Vanderbilt starting quarterback Mike Wright to kick things off for the season.
