Heads up play by Georgia teammate saved Georgia’s Deandre Baker some embarrassment
Deandre Baker has got some explaining to do.
Georgia’s outstanding defensive back broke open the South Carolina game by recording an interception that appeared to lead to a walk-in touchdown for the Bulldogs during the first possession of the game.
If you missed the play, here was the outstanding individual effort by Baker to intercept Jake Bentley’s pass and take it back to the house.

Or so it seemed upon first glance.
Turns out, Baker dropped the ball before getting in the end zone, as can be seen in the photo below. While UGA linebacker Juwan Taylor saved the play by picking it up and giving Georgia the score, Baker’s mistake nearly cost the Bulldogs a score:

Nice heads up play by Taylor but Baker nearly became the next player to make a stupid mistake and cost his team a score by simply not holding on to the ball when walking into the end zone.
