Chip Kelly was announced as UCLA’s new head football coach on Saturday.
That came as a devastating blow for many Florida fans who were certain the Gators were going to land Kelly to come coach in Gainesville.
FOX Sports college football reporter Bruce Feldman said on Saturday that Kelly was impressed with Florida and “really liked the UF brass.”
However, in the end, Kelly decided on UCLA in part because he was more comfortable living on the west coast than in Gainesville.
Florida may be a better job all-around than UCLA, which makes this move shocking to many people. But perhaps the weather in Los Angeles is a bigger deal than previously thought.
Here’s a tweet Feldman sent out detailing why Kelly chose UCLA:
Source tells me Chip Kelly really liked the #UF brass and was impressed by them and that made it hard but in the end he was more comfortable living on the West Coast than in Gainesville & with the opportunities at #UCLA.
