Kevin Sumlin: I'm glad I wasn't mic'd up…I'll put it that way. What this team is about is not panicking and communicating. Guys played.

Sumlin: Tennessee is a quality football team with a lot of talent and a lot of speed. We were able to withstand things and win game.

“Quite frankly, the bye week comes at a great time,” Kevin Sumlin said in regards to his team’s injuries.

Sumlin: We wouldn't be where we are now if we were listening to everybody else. This team goes about its business and [focus] on winning.
— TexAgs (@TexAgs) October 9, 2016
Sumlin: Our fans were awesome today. They were loud, created havoc. The 12th Man brought it today…what an atmosphere.
— TexAgs (@TexAgs) October 9, 2016
Sumlin: Started off with Myles playing just on third down. Think he played every snap of both overtimes. He was really hurt. Great teammate.
— TexAgs (@TexAgs) October 9, 2016
Sumlin originally planned on Myles Garrett only playing on third downs. Sumlin asked him if he was OK in OT. Then Garrett played every snap.

Sumlin on Garrett: "Here's a guy who's got a bright future, is a great player, but he's also a great teammate."

Sumlin: When you win, the next game is a big game…because they're relevant because you're winning. Gonna have to play great rest of way.

Sumlin says this win wasn't a program-changer: "I thought it was a great ballgame between two top-ten teams."
— Battalion Sports (@battsports) October 9, 2016
Sumlin: "We need to finish. We're a work in progress there. Trust me, I would've rather not gone into Double OT."
— Zach Taylor (@ZachTaylorSport) October 9, 2016
Sumlin: We need to finish. We're a work in progress [on offense]. We know where we are as a team. A lot of young guys [on offense].
— TexAgs (@TexAgs) October 9, 2016
Sumlin on Williams' fumble- "He's a young player and he learned from it. He rushed for 217 yards. We've got a lot of young players."

Sumlin: Daniel [LaCamera] is the same whether he makes it or misses it. He's a really good kicker. He's a freshman but very talented.

Sumlin: We've been involved in these games a bunch. I think our coaching staff is calm & has a good plan in OT & we've been very successful.
