Herm Edwards praises Seahawks for selecting former Arkansas RB Alex Collins

Former Arkansas RB Alex Collins was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday.
He is expected to be a key cog in Super Bowl winning coach Pete Carroll’s effort to replace former RB Marshawn Lynch, who retired this offseason.
On Sunday, former NFL coach Herm Edwards called Collins and the Seahawks the best fit of the entire draft.
During an ESPN SportsCenter broadcast, Edwards explains what he liked about the former Razorbacks runner:
“Boy, I tell you what… big time,” Edwards said. “The best fit for me is the Seattle Seahawks. And you think about Alex Collins. They get him in the (fifth) round, a running back.
“Think about Seattle. They want to run the ball downhill inside the tackles. He is that– Very explosive, powerful legs, gain yards after contact. He’s a pile mover. Not a three down player, but first and second down he’s a really good one.”

It will be interesting to see just how much Collins plays as a rookie. As the Lynch dealt with injuries during the 2015 season, the Seahawks relied on Thomas Rawls, who was an undrafted rookie out of Central Michigan.
Collins rushed for at least 1,000 yards in all three of his seasons in Fayetteville, even though he spent the first two seasons sharing significant carries with Jonathan Williams. Collins capped things off with 1,577 yards rushing in his junior season.
