Blake Barnett has been in the hospital this week for unspecified reasons, and reportedly underwent multiple blood transfusions on Tuesday. Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban told al.com he does not believe it will be a prolonged illness.
Barnett, a freshman from Corona, Calif., was the No. 2 quarterback in the Class of 2015, according to both scout.com and rivals.com. He threw for 3,404 yards and 23 touchdowns, while rushing for 479 yards and seven scores his senior year at Santiago High School in Corona. He has not played this season, and will likely redshirt. Senior Jake Coker and sophomore Cooper Bateman have quarterbacked the Crimson Tide this year.
