Houston President Renu Khator isn’t afraid to speak her mind — especially as it pertains to former UH head coaches.
The Cougars just conducted a long search of their own to find the next leader of the program. Deciding to stay in-house, Houston opted to promote OC Major Applewhite.
It didn’t stop Khator from making some rather fascinating comments focused around Kevin Sumlin and Art Briles:
UH President Renu Khator on Tom Herman at UT: “I hope he does better than (Kevin) Sumlin is doing for A&M or (Art) Briles did for Baylor”
— Brett McMurphy (@Brett_McMurphy) December 10, 2016
Briles coached at Houston from 2003-07 before leaving for Baylor. Sumlin followed Briles for four seasons — until opting to take the job at Texas A&M. Similarly, Tom Herman recently departed for yet another in-state institution, Texas.
The not-so-veiled shot at both Briles and Sumlin may have illustrated some insight into the the relationships Khator had with the former employees.
