Bo Nix has played a lot of football for the Auburn Tigers, which makes it easy to forget sometimes that he’s still just a junior.
And while the 6-3, 214-pounder from Pinson, Alabama, has accounted for nearly 5,000 passing yards, more than 700 rushing yards, and 42 touchdowns in his 2 seasons at Auburn, 2021 will provide plenty of new experiences with a new coaching staff on the sidelines on The Plains.
Bryan Harsin was hired last December to replace Gus Malzhan and Harsin brought in former Georgia quarterback Mike Bobo as his offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
So far, Bobo has been impressed by what he’s seen from Nix, especially when it comes to his junior signal caller’s competitive nature and work ethic.
“His work ethic,” Bobo told AUBlog beat writer Jordan Hill on Monday. “I’ve been extremely impressed by how hard this young man works … He’s an ultimate competitor. He wants to win in everything, not just football.”

In terms of what Bobo is looking for from Nix throughout fall camp and in preparation for the season, it would be to fine tune his performance and deliver consistency on a daily basis.
“There’s so many little nuances and details of why you call a certain play, what we’re trying to attack,” said Bobo when talking about the offense and Nix’s role. “To me with Bo, it’s doing the little things over and over. I’m talking about fundamentally.”
To that point, Bobo said that Nix has been solid in that regard to date but added, “There’s a lot of improvement to be made, but he’s made a lot of improvement in the time we’ve been here.”
