Hugh Freeze says Jackson Arnold can be one of nation’s top quarterbacks in 2025
Hugh Freeze is hoping Oklahoma’s loss is Auburn’s gain.
The Tigers head coach believes that Jackson Arnold not working out as the quarterback in Norman might turn out to be a blessing for his program. Freeze is under pressure to start winning on the Plains after going a combined 11-14 overall and 5-11 in the SEC during his first 2 seasons.
At the center of those expectations for the head coach and for the fans is Arnold, who spent 2 years at Oklahoma, where the Sooners’ offense struggled so much that offensive coordinator Seth Littrell was fired in the middle of the season.
Now, Arnold has taken his talents to another SEC school with big-time football tradition, and Freeze believes the Arnold-Auburn marriage has a chance to be a very successful one. Freeze said so during an appearance on The Paul Finebaum Show on Monday.
“Really excited about Jackson. Jackson obviously has all the tools to be one of the top quarterbacks in the nation, really. Just needed a restart for whatever reason. I’m just excited about what I saw (this spring). He’s got the arm talent, he’s got the legs, he’s got the football IQ. He just needs the confidence, and I think that confidence grew this spring,” Hugh Freeze told Finebaum.
Freeze also admitted to Finebaum that the confidence comes to fruition when the season arrives and the battles begin. But for now, coming out of spring football, Freeze believes those lofty expectations for himself and for Arnold at Auburn could be realized in a big way.
