Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze says star junior safety Tony Conner is “for sure coming back” according to RebelGrove.com.

Conner is listed as the seventh best draft-eligible safety in the country according to ESPN.com draft guru Mel Kiper. He finished with 17 tackles and four tackles in a loss in just five games this year.

The junior safety has some major pro potential and prospects.

It is unclear how Conner’s injury midway through the season would have played in his draft prospects this year.

Conner tore his meniscus following the Ole Miss win in Tuscaloosa over Alabama this year. The injury required surgery and Conner did not play the rest of the year. Conner has already been ruled out of the Sugar Bowl for Ole Miss.

Freeze seemed a bit more bullish on Evan Engram. The junior tight end is the eighth best draft-eligible tight end according to Mel Kiper.

Engram caught 32 passes for 368 yards and two touchdowns this season, averaging a bit more than 30 yards receiving per game.

If the Rebels lose Engram, it could mean they lose two of their top five receivers from last year. Quincy Adeboyejo and Damore’ea Stringfellow are both eligible to enter the NFL Draft and star receiver Laquon Treadwell is still undecided on his NFL future for next year. Cody Core is a senior.
