Isaiah Bond will always be known at Alabama for his game-winning touchdown catch on 4th-and-goal from the 31 to rescue Bama at Auburn and save the Crimson Tide’s run to an eventual SEC title.

Well, now he’s at fellow SEC powerhouse Texas, and while Saturday afternoon’s TD catch in a season-opening blowout of Colorado State didn’t have nearly the same drama as that grab in the Iron Bowl last November, it was memorable, nonetheless. The junior wideout had his mouthpiece ripped out, then had his helmet pulled but still managed to haul in a 7-yard scoring pass from Quinn Ewers in the 2nd quarter to give the Longhorns a 24-0 lead.

It was the 1st of what Texas fans hope are many touchdown catches in a Longhorns uniform, and it certainly won’t be forgotten anytime soon for anyone who noticed just exactly what Bond had to go through to make it happen.

Bond had a strong 1st half in his opening 30 minutes as a Longhorn, leading Texas with 5 catches for 61 yards and that unorthodox touchdown grab.

Bond announced in January that he would be transferring to Texas, making the decision just a few days after the retirement of Nick Saban as Alabama head coach.
