Isaiah Spiller, former Texas A&M star RB, draws major praise from Chargers head coach

Isaiah Spiller was a star for the Texas A&M Aggies the past 3 years, racking up 2,993 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns during his impressive tenure in College Station.
But, since teams don’t value running backs very much in the NFL Draft these days, Spiller fell to the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, where he was scooped up by the Los Angeles Chargers.
Now, he’s making the Chargers look smart for that pick. After a Sunday scrimmage, Los Angeles head coach Brandon Staley praised Spiller’s confidence:
Chargers HC Brandon Staley on rookie RB Isaiah Spiller. The Texas A&M product flashed during Sunday’s scrimmage: “I think the one thing about Isaiah is he’s not impressed by the NFL. He feels like he belongs. He has confidence in himself. I think he carries himself that way.” pic.twitter.com/nmuIg68RQB

The Chargers have Austin Ekeler entrenched as their starting running back, but Spiller will compete with Larry Rountree III and Joshua Kelley for the top backup spot.
The Chargers start their preseason schedule on Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams.
