Tennessee running back Jabari Small is ready to make up for last season’s loss to Pitt with a win this year.

Small said the loss “has been in the back of our minds. But not that they didn’t deserve to win. They’re a great team.”

The Vols fell just short of Pitt last season, losing 41-34 at home. This season, Tennessee travels to Pittsburgh for the game.

Small had a game to forget against Pitt last year, picking up just 18 yards and a touchdown.

Both teams head into the game 1-0. Tennessee danced past Ball State 59-10 Thursday and Pitt scraped by West Virginia 38-31 in the Backyard Brawl, which drew an all-time attendance record to the city of Pittsburgh on Thursday.

Tennessee enters the game as 4.5-point favorite and is looking to pick up a statement win before entering SEC play in a couple of weeks.

As for Pitt, it will look to continue proving itself and climbing in rankings.

Saturday’s game between the Panthers and the Vols is a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff and is on ABC.
