Jabrill Peppers, former college star, arrested on multiple violent charges

Jabrill Peppers, a Heisman finalist at Michigan in 2016 and a top safety in the NFL, was arrested Saturday prior to the New England Patriots’ matchup against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
Peppers is being charged with assault and battery, assault, strangulation and possession of a Class B substance, which some are reporting is cocaine. Police were reportedly called to a residential address for an “altercation between 2 people,” according to a local NBC affiliate in Boston.
Further details are still unknown as of 9:30 ET Monday morning.

New England head coach Jarod Mayo briefly spoke with reporters Monday morning regarding the incident. Here’s what he had to say:

Peppers is a team captain for the Patriots and could now be in serious jeopardy of being dismissed from the team. He’s totaled 23 tackles, 1 interception and a pair of pass deflections through 4 games this season.
