Jac Caglianone did his best Shoehei Ohtani on Sunday. As Florida’s starting pitcher and designated hitter, Caglianone hit 3 of the Gators’ 8 home runs, a new single-game program record, in a 13-7 victory over Cincinnati to secure a series sweep.
Caglianone did not get the win on the mound, as he did not complete the 5th inning (4.2 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 4 BB, 6 K), but he hit the record-breaking homer for more insurance runs as the UF bullpen finished the job.

Caglianone’s second homer was the most impressive on the day. His blast to right field went 462 feet, clearing the stadium.
Are you kidding me? @jac_caglianone just hit his 2nd bomb of the day at 115mph exit velo
His first one today was at 118mph exit velo
Oh yeah and he was also touching 97mph from the mound ? pic.twitter.com/f7xSTAux1a

Caglianone wasn’t alone in leaving the yard multiple times. Josh Rivera had 2 home runs and 4 RBI as part of a 3-for-4 day at the plate. Cade Kurland, Luke Heyman and Colby Halter hit solo shots.
Florida had hit 7 homers in a game on 4 occasions, most recently against Stetson in 2015. The 2023 Gators are now 7-1. Kevin O’Sullivan’s squad will play a home-and-home with Jacksonville in midweek action before hosting Miami for a 3-game series starting Friday.
