Jalen Milroe in the 1st round? NFL insider outlines ‘realistic scenario’ for Alabama QB on draft day

The 2025 NFL Draft is right around the corner, and Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe remains one of the most mysterious and intriguing prospects available on the entire draft board.
Teams appear decidedly split on Milroe’s prospects as a potential star in the NFL. While he is recognized for his elite ability as a runner, his skillset as a passer is rough but loaded with raw talent.
In spite of all that, NFL insider Tom Pelissero believes there is a “realistic scenario” that involves Milroe coming off the board as a first-round pick for the New York Giants. In that scenario, Pelissero has the Giants taking Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter at No. 2 overall and trading back into the end of the first round to grab Milroe.
“If they want to be aggressive and go get a quarterback, Jalen Milroe does make a lot of sense… Milroe has a very raw skill set,” admitted Pelissero. “He’s an unbelievable runner, he has a huge arm, he just throws all fastballs and needs a lot of work in terms of the touch and the timing and the accuracy that it takes to thrive as an NFL QB.”
Why would that deal make sense for the Giants? The franchise already has a pair of veterans lined up as potential tutors to guide Milroe until he’s ready to step onto the field.
“What better place than to go in and have Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in there to teach you how to be an NFL QB, but also to buy you time so once you’re on the field, you’re actually ready to be out there,” explained Pelissero.
At this point, Milroe is +130 at DraftKings to be selected in the first round on Thursday night. That puts it as a realistic possibility but far from a guarantee, so it will be interesting to see if the Giants or anyone else take a first-round chance on Milroe.
