Jalen Milroe on playing another position in NFL: ‘You never ask a zebra to be a dog’
Jalen Milroe was asked the question, and he brushed it aside the same way he mostly did with defenders during his career at Alabama.
The now former Crimson Tide quarterback, who declared for the NFL Draft this spring, was a guest on Pro Football Talk on Wednesday in New Orleans during the leadup to Super Bowl 59 on Sunday, and was asked if he would be willing to play any position other than quarterback in the NFL.
Milroe could’ve just said a simple “no,” but he went a little further, with some animal references to go with it.
“It’s always at quarterback,” Milroe shot back. “Of course, the question’s asked, switching positions and stuff like that. What can I do? You never ask a zebra to be a dog.”
Milroe declared for the NFL Draft after spending 4 seasons with the Crimson Tide. Three of those seasons came under the legendary Nick Saban, and in the final year Milroe played under Kalen DeBoer.
Milroe threw for 2,844 yards this past season under DeBoer, with 16 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions, but he failed to lead Alabama to the College Football Playoff. The year before under Saban, Milroe got the Crimson Tide to the Playoff, where they fell to eventual national champion Michigan in the semifinals.
Milroe also filled in some for an injured Bryce Young during the 2022 season.
He was never anything but a quarterback at Alabama, and he doesn’t want that to change in the NFL.
