Jalen Wydermyer, former Texas A&M TE, reportedly lands with new NFL team

The life of a rookie undrafted free agent is not always a fun one.
Within minutes after the draft ends, players who weren’t selected start signing with teams based on both opportunity and signing bonuses. Some chase the guarantees while others chase the opportunity. Most of the time, money equals opportunities but you can never be certain.
One of those players that has been dealing with that is former Texas A&M Jalen Wydermyer. He was signed by the Buffalo Bills as an UDFA right after the draft and seemed to have a great opportunity to make the roster.

Unfortunately, he was released on the first cutdown day. On Thursday when the Patriots put James White on the reserved/retired list, they signed the former Aggie, Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus reported.
The Patriots drafted two tight ends in 2020 but turned around and signed Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith after they didn’t perform up to expectations. Wydermyer should have a decent chance to potentially make the roster but more than likely end up on the practice squad.
