Former Kentucky QB Jared Lorenzen was admitted to the hospital last week due to an infection.

His family has shared multiple updates on his condition since his hospitalization. Lorenzen “had not been feeling well for a few weeks” prior to his hospitalization, and that in addition to an infection, he is dealing with kidney and heart issues. The family described Lorenzen as “fighting with everything he has.

On Tuesday, the family has issued a new update, via Kentucky Sports Radio’s Matt Jones. The update reveals that Lorenzen is on Dialysis and treatment for cardiac and renal issues have been effective. However, he’s still very sick.

Lorenzen became more of a cult hero to Kentucky and SEC fans during his time playing in the conference and certainly his pro career. He’s been open to his battle of obesity in the “Jared Lorenzen Project.” It documented his weight-loss journey in hopes of inspiring others.
