Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss’ starting quarterback, led the No. 17 Rebels to a 48-23 win over Georgia Tech on Saturday. After the game, Dart was asked about the team’s looming matchup with Alabama this week.
“This is a game that I feel like our whole team has been looking forward to,” Dart said. “Especially with how things ended in the last time that we played them.”
He’s referencing Alabama’s 30-24 win last season in Oxford, a victory that moved Bama ahead of the Rebels in the SEC standings and came thanks to the home team scoring zero points in the fourth quarter. Dart completed 19-of-31 passes in that game for 212 yards and a touchdown — as well as 35 rushing yards — but Bryce Young out-dueled him in the game’s final frame.
“Obviously, they’re Bama, so you know what to expect from them,” Dart said. “From growing up as kids, we’ve all grown up seeing them at the top, so we’re excited for the challenge.”
Dart has thrown for 852 yards and 7 touchdowns while completing 66.2% of his passes thus far this season. He’s also only thrown 1 interception and tacked on 213 yards rushing and another score.
