Jaxson Dart had a phenomenal week at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.
On Friday, the Senior Bowl’s executive director revealed that Dart had been voted the American squad’s Practice Player of the Week at quarterback by defensive backs at the all-star event. Dart appears to be well on track to being the highest-drafted Ole Miss quarterback in more than a decade.
The former Ole Miss star turned heads all week at the Senior Bowl. On Friday, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky claimed Dart would be a first-round pick in April’s NFL Draft.
Dart left Ole Miss after a 3-year stint that was arguably the best in program history. He led the Rebels to back-to-back 10-win seasons as a starter while becoming the program’s all-time leader in career passing yardage. Dart also set a single-season program record for passing in 2024.
Now, he has a chance to be the Rebels’ first first-round draft pick, regardless of position, since 2017. If he was taken in the first round, he’d be just the third quarterback in school history to go in the opening round of the NFL Draft.
There’s still work to be done, but Dart has lots of buzz surrounding him at the moment. At bet365, he currently has the fifth-shortest odds of any player to be taken first overall in the draft. While Dart is still viewed as a far, far longshot to be the first pick (+5000) he is rising. And 2 of the 4 most likely options to go No. 1 are quarterbacks. With this being viewed as a weak quarterback class overall, Dart could very well be one of the first quarterbacks to come off the board.
He’ll participate in the Senior Bowl, which kicks off on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET.
