Jeff Long responds to Garth Brooks calling for Arkansas to join the Big 12
If country music star Garth Brooks truly thinks Arkansas should move to the Big 12, he’s probably best served sticking to his day job.
Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long responded to Brooks’ thoughts on the Razorbacks jumping to the Big 12 with a little taste of his own music:
Hey @Garthbrooks hear u want @ArkRazorbacks in Big 12. "I’ve Got a Good Thing Going" in @SEC. Those are just "Unanswered Prayers" :-)
— Jeff Long (@jefflong21) May 11, 2016
A few hour later, Long sent out another tweet, hoping to calm any potential angry Big 12 fans:
Come on people! I have many friends in the Big12 & respect Univ, U know I meant no disrespect, only having fun with @garthbrooks enjoy life

While Big 12 fans sure would enjoy stealing a team from the big bad SEC, the money generated by college football’s most dominant football conference make any consideration of leaving purely laughable.
Just how big of a drop off would there be for Arkansas if they jumped ship from the SEC to the Big 12? The SEC’s total revenue for 2015 was $527.4 million, the Big 12’s was $268 million.
Case closed, keep dreaming Mr. Brooks.
