Jerry Stackhouse believes that Vanderbilt is a shoo-in for a ticket to the Big Dance.

The Commodores had a strong showing in the SEC Tournament, starting their run with a 77-68 win over 14th-seeded LSU on Thursday. Vanderbilt then added to their success with an 80-73 upset of No. 3 seed Kentucky Friday. The No. 6 seed Commodores’ run ended on Saturday as they lost out to No. 2 seed Texas A&M 87-75.

After the loss to the Aggies, Stackhouse was asked if he believed the Commodores would make it to March Madness. Without hesitation, the Commodores head coach replied, “Yeah, we belong in the NCAA Tournament. Ain’t no doubt in my mind about that.”

Stackhouse wasn’t the only coach to think Vandy is an NCAA Tournament caliber team. Kentucky coach John Calipari called the Commodores an NCAA Tournament team after Vandy defeated UK on Friday.

“They played for their lives, and they are an NCAA Tournament team now. And I think they were before this game,” Calipari stated.

Vanderbilt will await to hear its fate on Sunday from the NCAA Tournament selection show.
