The Jets are expected to be in for a rough season, but things might have gotten worse for the New York team Thursday.
According to NFL Network’s Andrew Siciliano, the team’s first-round draft pick, out of LSU, Jamal Adams suffered a sprained ankle during 7-on-7 drills. The seriousness of the injury is still not known at this time, but more information should be released soon.
Drafted at No. 6 overall this past April, Adams joined the ranks of other former LSU defensive backs such as Morris Claiborne (No. 6) and Patrick Peterson (No. 5) who were selected in the top 10 of their respective NFL Draft. He finished his junior season with 76 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one interception.
If Adams is forced to miss any time due to the ankle injury, that would put a serious damper on his chances of winning the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award. According to sportsbettingdime.com, Adams currently has the second-best chance of winning the award with 8/1 odds — trailing only former Texas A&M edge rusher Myles Garrett who sits at 7/2 odds.
