Jihaad Campbell describes Nick Saban as ‘different’ during NFL Combine interview

Jihaad Campbell is one of many NFL Draft prospects in Indianapolis to take part in the NFL Combine. He joined the podium with a number of defensive players on Wednesday, and he was asked about his time spent with Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa.
Saban, the true GOAT in Alabama coaching history, had the chance to coach Campbell for 2 seasons with the Crimson Tide. Campbell then finished his time in college during the 2024 campaign under Kalen DeBoer.
Campbell was asked about his head coaches while at the podium and admitted it is hard to compare and contrast different guys:
“I feel as though Saban is different. When you really try to compare and contrast a coach like that, it’s not happening,” said Campbell.
That’s not exactly a surprising revelation in Alabama football news. One has to be a bit “different” to win nearly 300 career games and 7 national titles, including 6 with the Crimson Tide. Campbell also went on to say he respects Saban for his mentorship as a coach.
“I appreciate him for mentoring me and guiding me through a lot of different things for my 2 years that he was there,” said Campbell. “He had to retire, that was the best decision for me, and us as players, we definitely respected that and we appreciate him.”
The star defender certainly has a chance to come off the board as a high first-round pick. He checked in at No. 12 overall in Daniel Jeremiah’s latest top 50 draft prospects for NFL.com, and he should be a playmaker from Day 1 in the NFL.
