Jimbo Fisher buyout: CFB insider explains next steps ‘should things continue to spiral’

Jimbo Fisher is facing a renewed dose of criticism as Texas A&M lost to Tennessee to extend its stretch of road frustrations. But college football insider Bruce Feldman reported that money would not be an issue if it came to parting ways with Fisher “should things continue to spiral.”

Feldman wrote at The Athletic that “Texas A&M, I’m told, will find the money to get rid of him if he can’t get this thing going.” At stake is a possible buyout of $77,562,500, according to recent figures from USA Today.

Frustration has certainly escalated as the Aggies have lost to Miami, Alabama and Tennessee this season and are in a bye week before they meet South Carolina on Oct. 28.

ESPN commentator Paul Finebaum has said in recent days that Aggie fans have all but moved on from Jimbo Fisher. Finebaum was in Knoxville last week ahead of the game, and said fans showed a lack of faith in Fisher. That’s a change from as recently as 3 or 4 weeks ago.

Jimbo Fisher has underperformed at Texas A&M.
