Jimbo Fisher clarifies LSU comments, doubles down on commitment to Texas A&M
Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher has continued to deny any interest in the LSU job opening despite the fact that analysts keep mentioning him as arguably the top candidate.
He offered an especially strong denial Tuesday, yet the topic continue to come up, as was the case on the SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday.
“LSU is a great place,” Fisher said. “… No disrespect to LSU in any way, shape or form. But I love being here at A&M, what we’re building, who we’re recruiting. I’m going to be here a long time.”
Fisher was also asked Wednesday what kind of affect that being mentioned in connection to other jobs has on recruiting.
“If you’re honest and you address it, if people think that much that they want you there, they clearly think highly of you. I think it can help,” Fisher said. “… That’s why I try to get out in front of it. … We’re recruiting a great, great class. I don’t want to play against these dudes.”
